Tropical Bamboo Orchids and the Bamboo Orchid Flowers

Bamboo Orchids are in many places all around the world and can be found all the way across the world in places like Tropical Costa Rica, Thailand naturally Hawaii the Pacific Islands and I believe even Panama.

This Tropical Orchid Species are mostly only grown as house plants in the U.S. but is what I believe to be the most popular of all flowers when raising orchids, and the ease of plant care even if growing orchids indoors.

These tropical types of orchids, particularly are know for growing wild in Costa Rica, which you could identify these orchids growing wild everywhere but their distinct look, but they are not as abundant and they are slowly disappearing out of its natural habitat growing wild.

Raising Bamboo Orchids and Orchid Care Instructions

The bamboo orchid is unique because it grows like no other orchid believe it or not it can get as tall as 7 feet

This magnificent flower blooms between June to October depending on what region it is growing and can bloom up to a dozen flowers at a time.

Like I said earlier the flower colors are purple, pink or white and can have yellow in the inner cup, we actually had some that my mother grew for a short time in the back yard but if I can remember correctly it probably only got about 2 feet tall?

While they can make a great indoor plants and add a touch of variety to any home decor, growing the orchid outside in ground requires just a little know how.

Make sure the plant can get plenty of sunlight but needs to be protected from the hot afternoon sun, so watch the spot for a day where you plan on planting it and make sure it is also protected from wind.

This beautiful Orchid is a bit of a loner and doesn’t like to have other plants planted too close.

You want to ensure the orchid is kept fairly moist although, make sure it doesn’t get over watered or soaked for any long periods of time

Fertilizer needs to be applies several times a year and once again my favorite is a pellet time released fertilizer with vitamins, there are special ones you can purchase just for Orchids.

Bamboo orchids prefers warmer climates like its native home environment, if you live where it gets really cold in the winter or in the evenings its best to plant it in a plant with rollers so that you can bring it in during those conditions.
