The beautiful Bougainvillea Plant isn’t from a tropical island
like Hawaii, or Tahiti, like many seem to think. Its actually originally form the Amazon Rainforest near Brazil.
These bougainvillea vines really get overlooked often, and what a shame.
Bougainvillea flowers come in so many bright and vibrant colors that when in bloom they will brighten any garden or patio more that you could ever imagine. They come in many colors like Orange, Pink, Red, Purple, White and sometime a combination of two colors flowers.
I have the bright fuchsia bougainvillea plants in my back yard and I love them! The color they bring to my tropical garden is breathtaking. I took some pictures of my flowers to show you plus more pictures of flowers, bougainvillea, to show you the colors and how beautiful they actually are.
When it comes to bougainvillea care, they love to climb, and cling to everything it its path. They can some times be very invasive but when it blooms and your garden in full with color it’s all worth its climbing abilities.
No matter how much you trim or prune them you can’t hurt them, and they come back healthier and fuller than ever! So don’t feel bad if you need to cut them back a bit.
The First Two Pictures I Took From My Backyard
I must say that the Bougainvillea flowers are such easy tropical rainforest plants to grow. In their natural environment in Brazilian rainforest vary as far as moisture, it can go from heavy rain fall for the rainy season, then to dried out periods with no rain, the rainforest does have its dry season which the influx in the weather makes this tropical blooming vine much more tolerable to changing soil conditions.
One constant is the heat that it loves and that is no colder than 60 degrees and at its high of 90 makes it happy.
Although here at the beach where I live, we don’t have much humidity and it, on rare occasions can get down into the 40's, but my bougainvillea plants come back stronger than ever and fuller each year, and I never add extra fertilizer.
Bougainvillea care Is so simple , if you want to give it a fertilizer that will be fine it will take whatever you give it. I like to make it simple and love time released pellets. You can feed them every three months with this method.
When watering they love to be completely soaked, then let it dry out before you water again
They really are fantastic blooming vines that are so simple to care for and can handle lots of neglect.
