I am asking if it us appropriate to cut back lotus plants as the stems with root structures grow? Will this hurt the plant?

Hi Pat,

It is good to cut them back if they are getting too big for its surroundings and it usually won't hurt the plant, once the lotus is established they are quite hardy, when I was a kid my mother had some that she grew in our pond and I can remember her always cutting them back and to no avail they always came back fuller with more flowers year after year.
