Compared to the typical idea of a palm this small, multi-stemmed, hardy Mediterranean Fan palm is the only one native to Europe, It's much easier to grow than most other palms, it's also called the European fan palm.
This Fan Palm is one of the most common palm trees grown in landscaping. These Palms can grow well in hot, dry, desert regions due to its high drought tolerance.
It's beautiful curved, clumping, short trunks and gray-green, fan shaped leaves, make a stunning focal point in a garden. You can even plant them in a patio container.
As you will see in the palm tree pictures I have provided for you will see the fine textured fronds make the palm stand out from other plants in the landscape. Leaf color on these evergreen plants can range from light green to silver shades.
Although it grows rather slow, it is well worth the wait since even small plants will stand out nicely in almost any landscape.
This palm grows at a rate of about 6 inches per year with fertilizer and good drainage. The hardy Palm occurs throughout the mountainous areas of the Mediterranean in elevations over 3,000 feet which makes them cold hardy palm trees.
There really isn’t much to growing these types of palm trees pretty much water, dirt and sunshine, it’s very easy to grow!

Growth Habits: Clumping palm tree, growing slowly to 20 feet high, trunks 4 to 5 inches in diameter, covered with fibrous triangular fan-shaped blue-grey to green leaves 12 to 24 inches long.
Watering Needs: Regular water in summer improves growth, fairly salt resistant it doesn’t mind periods of drought.
Propagation: Seed, possible by the numerous offsets, but it's hared to be successful at this.
