Tropical Pony Tail Palm a Great Addition To Any Home Or Garden

Pony Tail Palm

I Love the Pony Tail Palm .... the way it looks is so unique and tropical. This Palm Tree is the perfect choice to grow as Exotic house plants for your home, office or garden!

Ponytail palms get their name from their ponytail like appearance with long flowing stands of thin palm fronds that flow from the center of the palm outwards like a "pony tail".

This palm, is one of my top 5 easy to grow houseplants.

It requires very little attention which is perfect. The only downfall to the Ponytail palm is that it is an extremely slow grower, which is also perfect because when I'm growing a palm tree in my home I want it to grow slow.

So don't expect this beautiful and unique palm tree types to become a large tree fast, growing palm trees of these species takes time and patients. They’re slow growers. If you want a more substantial tree it will be years before these kinds of palm trees get larger, so if you’re wanting a bigger pony tail palm buy a bigger one to start with.

Easy Care Instructions

The Ponytail palm should be watered thoroughly once every 7 to 14 days. This palm is native to desert areas therefore, it has a root system similar to cactus. The roots go deep in order to store water for long dry spells a guaranteed water supply.

Be sure to let the soil become dry to touch 1" to 1-1/2" deep before watering again. If you notice the lower foliage is starting to turn a yellow or brown color you may be under watering the plant or you might be giving it too much fertilizer.. The Ponytail palm requires and loves to be in bright light so be sure to place it near a window where full sun is received.

Bugs and mites usually are not a problem with the palm, but they may sill appear, if they do simply spray the houseplant down with a soapy water mix twice a day. Take a wet cloth place each palm leaf between the cloth from the base of the leaf and pull out to the tips holding tight to the cloth as if to pull each bug or mite off. Repeat this process until they are gone completely, this could take a week or so.
