Synsepalum Dulcificum
Truely a Miracle Fruit !

Synsepalum Dulcificum

If you eat synsepalum dulcificum, better known as the Miracle fruit, its amazing how it can change the taste of foods for instance it can make Lemon juice taste sweet.

It's even said to make vinegar taste good but I'm not sure I'm willing to try the vinegar but the lemon I can handle.

When eating the miracle fruit from this evergreen plant the effects of it turning sour into sweet can last half an hour to 2 hours making the bitter taste as sweet as honey.

These plants seem to live for acid, and it’s thought that the acidic soil is what helps produce its magic in the fruit. They must have rich soils that are acid in pH, and it needs lots of water, several times a week.

It can easily be grown indoors with as long as you simulate a tropical climate that is with lots of bright light, and high humidity.

The attractive oval leaves are green with a touch of rust on them and get to about ½ inch long.

This tree is from tropical lowlands that are warm with lots of humidity. This plant cant handle any cold weather.

In Florida and Hawaii the conditions are perfect for these tropical fruit trees.

Some of this information is with thanks to toptropicals.com. They are one of the most informative tropical plant specialists on line as well as selling hard to find plants.

This wonderful evergreen plant can grow very slow, its growth will depend on where you live and the climate yet it can grow up to 6 feet if planted into a pot and up to 15 feet if grown in a garden.

There are a few growers that will sell the seeds. But if you can find someone who sells them, purchase an established tree but they can be expensive and hard to find.
