Tropical Triangle Palm

Triangle Palm

The Beautiful Triangle Palm is becoming endangered in its native habitatin Madagascar. But luckily it is now widely grown in many places in the world including gardens like your and mine. I have also notice them being used more often in commercial landscaping at Malls and grounds around business buildings here locally in Southern California.

Fortunately the species is not in danger of disappearing because of its demand by the general population and gardeners for landscaping and gardens. Yet it is easily recognizable either in person or by seeing them in palm tree pictures, by its unique triangular shape makes it easy to recognize.

Its actual scientific name of plants is Dypsis Decaryi but because of its shape its common name triangle tree is used more often than not.

Its a medium sized palm tree and grows between ten and twelve feet, and its silvery green or even a blue green color makes it stand out even more. Their colored leaves make them desirable to be added to any tropical garden, as well as its nearly white fruit it produces causes it sometimes to be classified as a Neodypsis Decaryi.

No matter what this palm as far as palm tree types are easy growing palm trees and you’ll be glad you planted this unique tree in your yard.

Care and Growing Palm Trees

This fast growing robust and immensely popular ornamental palm with the triangular leaf arrangement hardly needs an introduction its presence says enough once you’ve seen one you'll know what I'm talking about.

It loves to bask in full sun but fortunately it is vey tolerant of soil conditions, wind and periods of drought amazing something so beautiful is so low maintenance.

Dypsis decaryi is definitely a tropical tree and will do very well in all warm temperate to tropical climates.

Any conditions reminiscent of its natural biome from Madagascar will make this beautifully unique palm tree happy but remember it defiantly can not tolerate temperatures below 35 degrees.

It will adapt quickly and grow into a stunning landscape plant and also makes a very unusual and hardy indoor palm.

This wonderful palm does well in acidic or alkaline sandy soil. It is drought tolerant and also tolerates moderate amounts of salt due from living near the ocean and ocean air.

This plant is susceptible to potassium deficiency, which causes the tips of the plant to turn brown. It is also susceptible to lethal yellowing disease.

Its only means of propagation and reproduction is by seed.
